You do not need to be a metal specialist yet. We will teach you the trade on the job and offer you the opportunity to develop internally.

Your role

As a Crane Operator / Loading Shovel Driver, you ensure that our materials are moved, loaded and sorted safely and efficiently on site. You work primarily with the crane and loading shovel, making you an important link in the daily process at our facility.

But at HKS you can learn more than just operating machinery. During your work you will learn to recognise, assess and sort different types of iron and metal. Do you not have any experience with this yet? No problem. We will train you in-house and give you the opportunity to progress to Ferro Specialist.

This is how you combine working with heavy machinery with learning a real trade within metal recycling.

What are your main tasks?

  • Operating the crane and shovel in our yard;
  • Loading, unloading, moving and sorting various materials;
  • Ensuring a safe and tidy working environment;
  • Checking and recognising different types of iron and metals;
  • Collaborating with colleagues on site, weighbridge and in the office;
  • Assisting customers with loading and unloading;
  • Developing yourself step by step in the world of metal recycling.

Your profile

  • You have experience in operating a crane and/or shovel;
  • Forklift experience is an advantage;
  • You have an affinity for engineering and heavy equipment;
  • Knowledge of metals is not a requirement – we can teach you that;
  • You have a command of the Dutch language;
  • You work safely, accurately and have an eye for your surroundings;
  • You like to roll up your sleeves.

  • Strong organisational and problem-solving skills.

Your role

In the role of Shovel Operator, you will be responsible for efficiently and safely supporting our production process. Your daily tasks will involve loading and unloading production machines and lorries, shunting and weighing containers, and preparing loads for transport.

You will use the shovel to replenish feed hoppers, mix different material streams, and top up the intake bunker. Furthermore, you will be responsible for moving, sorting, and loading materials. You will take care of the daily maintenance of your machinery and contribute to keeping the site and our bunker halls organised and tidy.

Furthermore, you will guide suppliers and carriers during the loading and unloading of goods, and you will be responsible for inspecting materials.

We provide thorough internal training, so you become familiar with our methods, installations, and materials.

Your tasks

  • Loading and unloading machines and lorries.
  • Ranking, weighing and staging of containers.
  • Working with the loader: topping up, mixing, and feeding materials.
  • Daily maintenance of your machines.
  • Inspection of materials.
  • Supervising suppliers and hauliers.

Your role

As Technical Coordinator Maintenance, you are responsible for developing, optimising, and safeguarding the maintenance policy within the establishment. You ensure that installations, machines, and technical facilities are available to the maximum extent possible at minimum cost and risk.

You are the go-between for production, technical services, suppliers, and management. You analyse malfunctions, identify opportunities for improvement, and translate these into concrete maintenance strategies and technical projects.

Although you are regularly present on the work floor and work closely with the mechanics, your focus lies on coordination, optimisation, and structural improvements.
